The Palia Koli,[1] (also spelled as Paliya Koli and Pallia Koli) (Hindi: पालिया कोली) is a subcaste of the Koli caste found in the Indian state of Eastern Gujarat.[2] Palia Kolis were related to the Rajputs of Gujarat by marrying poor or lower Rajput girls.[3]

The Palia Kolis of Gujarat got their name from Pal region of the Gujarat which was ruled by Palia Kolis and from where they migrated to other regions in the state.[4]

Classification edit

The Palia Kolis are classified as Other Backward Class or OBC caste by the Government of Gujarat.[5]
