History
editUntil 18 July 2020, Molodiia belonged to Hlyboka Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Chernivtsi Oblast to three. The area of Hlyboka Raion was merged into Chernivtsi Raion.[2][3] In 2001, 55.52% of the inhabitants spoke Romanian (48.06% self-identified as Moldovan and 7.46% as Romanian) as their native language, while 43.54% spoke Ukrainian.[4] In 1992-1993, the school students at the local Ukrainian-language school included 22.96% Ukrainians, 58.5% Romanians, and 17.35% Moldovans.[5] In 1989, the population was 30.74% ethnically Ukrainian, 5.72% self-identified ethnically Romanian, and 61.96% self-identified ethnically Moldovan. The data suggests that there are hardly any self-identified Moldovans among the younger generation, and that the percentage of self-identified Moldovans is decreasing, while the number of self-identified Romanians is increasing.
