John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg (born January 19, 1993)[2] is the son of U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy. He is the only grandson of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, and first lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 2022, after which he became a political correspondent for Vogue magazine.

Early life and education
editJohn Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg was born in New York City on January 19, 1993,[2] the youngest of three children of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg. He was named after his maternal grandfather, John F. Kennedy, and maternal great-grandfather, John Vernou Bouvier III. Schlossberg has two older sisters, Rose and Tatiana. As a member of the Kennedy family he has many notable relatives. Schlossberg's father comes from an Orthodox Jewish family of Ukrainian descent, and his mother is a Catholic of Irish, French, Scottish, and English descent. Schlossberg was raised in his mother's religion,[3] and he also observes Jewish traditions, holidays, and holy days.[4] He is the lone grandson of John and Jackie Kennedy.[5]
In eighth grade, Schlossberg co-founded ReLight New York, a non-profit organization that raised more than $100,000 to install compact fluorescent lights in low-income housing developments.[6] In 2011, he graduated from The Collegiate School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.[7] Schlossberg attended Yale University, graduating in 2015 with a degree in history with a focus on Japanese history.[1] While there, Schlossberg wrote for the Yale Daily News and Yale Herald.[8] Schlossberg entered Harvard Law School in the fall of 2017.[9] In 2022, he graduated from the joint-J.D./MBA program at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School.[10][11]
Career
editSchlossberg is a member of the John F. Kennedy Library New Frontier Award Committee, for which he has acted as the award presenter.[12][13] He is on the committee of the Profile in Courage Award and was the host for the 2014 ceremony.[14]
In October 2015, after graduating from Yale, Schlossberg started working at Rakuten, Inc, a Japanese internet and e-commerce company, in Tokyo. He met Hiroshi Mikitani, the CEO of Rakuten, while visiting Sendai accompanying his mother on her duties as US ambassador to Japan.[15]
In 2016, Schlossberg worked as a staff assistant in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, part of the U.S. Department of State, and at Suntory Holdings Limited, a Japanese brewing, distilling, and beverage company.[16]
In April 2023, he passed the New York State bar exam, one of many steps required before admission to the bar and becoming an attorney.[17][18]
In July 2024, Schlossberg began writing for Vogue magazine as a political correspondent, ahead of the 2024 election.[19]
Acting
editOn May 11, 2018, Schlossberg appeared as Officer Jack Hammer on the eighth-season finale of the television show Blue Bloods. It is the only time he had an acting role.[20]
Politics
editMedia outlets have commented on Schlossberg's political potential.[21][22][23] In September 2012, when asked about his interest in a political career, 19-year-old Schlossberg said: "Politics definitely interests me. I'm most interested in public service."[24] In November 2013, Schlossberg attended the Medal of Freedom Award Dinner to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his grandfather's death where he introduced President Barack Obama.[25] In August 2020, Schlossberg gave an address on the second night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention entitled "We Lead from the Oval Office".[26]
