There is/was a Jewish school in Haydarpaşa. Circa the 1920s, due to a decline in the quantity and quality of French education (as laws had changed that required education to be given in a list of languages - Turkish and others protected by the Treaty of Lausanne, on which French was not on), the student population declined from 150 to 50.[6]
