Goswami is an Indian Brahmin and ascetic surname. It is also pronounced as, Gosains, Gosine, Gossain, Gosain, Gossai and Gosavi.

Russell's report reveals that the Goswami or Gosain surname is used by several priestly communities across western, central and eastern India; he specifically mentions three social groups : the Brahmins of the sect of Vallabhacharya who act as priestly functionaries in Pushtimarg Havelis, the ascetics and religious mendicants of Dashnami Sect and the Bairagi Brahmins of eastern India.[1]
