World Heavyweight Championship (WWE)

edit

The diagram indicates that the World Heavyweight Championship (WHC), as created by the WWE in 2002, is a splintered lineage from the older WWE Heavyweight Championship. This is not the case; when WWE Champion Brock Lesnar began competing exclusively for SmackDown, the Raw brand created its own title, the WHC. WWE's own official title history clearly indicates that there is no connection to the WWE Championship's lineage. It is and always has been an entirely separate and original title, and is not to be confused with the "World Championship", to which WWE renamed the WCW Championship after 2001's Survivor Series event. Just because they have the same belt (as in the Big Gold Belt) and bear similar names, it should not therefore be inferred that they are the same title. The Big Gold Belt is a physical representation of the title, not the title itself. Otherwise we could also infer that the WWE Hardcore Championship shares heritage with the WWE Heavyweight Championship - remember what the HC belt was made from? Was not aware of its origins, interesting to note... considering what a cool title that was, considering it a descendant is not offensive at all. 184.146.167.125 (talk) 17:42, 11 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Include AWA?

edit

I am not sure why the AWA was not included in this flow-chart. It was a major promotional world title for several decades and was established through it's link with Pat O'Connor who was NWA champion when the AWA recognized him as it's first World Champion. If this flow chart was meant for some other purpose, I apologize but the AWA was one of the Big Three promotions through the 60s and 70s. Jackbox1971 (talk) 02:38, 15 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The initial reason I didn't include other titles is because I didn't want it to become too convoluted (otherwise I'd also have to add the ECW championship and the TNA championship), as well as keeping it WWE-specific. I may update it at a future point with these other titles, but I'm worried it might look a bit messy. — Richard BB 21:32, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Include TNA

edit

I think the TNA World Heavyweight Championship should be added to this diagram as an additional splinter title from the NWA. Being accurate is the most important. The chart should not be made inaccurate as the cost of readability. If the idea is WWE specificity then ECW is still viable for inclusion. Even TNA might be since Christian became a WWE World Heavyweight Champion after being a TNA champ. 184.146.167.125 (talk) 17:40, 11 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
