"Intergrovernmental" Debt Versus "Intragovernmental" Debt

edit

The graph lists the debt as "Intergovernmental". However, when one follows the hyperlink that is given, listing the data as having come from the United States Department of the Treasury, the debt is listed as "Intragovernmental". If this is a mistake on the uploader's part, that's a shame; however, it's a bigger shame that it hasn't been caught by the Wikipedia editors and users during the time this chart has been shown on Wikipedia. I'm hoping the mistake is on my part, but I have a feeling that it isn't. Please correct the problem or, if the mistake is on my part, set me straight as to what I missed.

There are so many other mistakes on the United States National Debt Wikipedia article, some less important and some significantly more important than the one I have referenced, that the article arguably could be listed as a case of misinformation - to the point were no article would be preferable to what is presented. I wish that I had the time to write a new article, in tandem with those who know more about certain aspects that need to be addressed than I do; however, I am working on my dissertation and do not have the time and connections to do so. And then, just as big of a hurdle would be addressing all of the questions, concerns, and challenges that Wikipedia editors and readers would understandably make about the article. The only thing I can suggest is asking the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), which is non-govermental, or the Treasury Departmen's fiscal research branch to write an article (Treasury's statistics are being used anyway). I'm sure the Treasury Department would be non-political - I worked for several years at the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and we were neurotic about being non-biased in our monthly reports and research.
