Overturning IFD decisions edit

The use of this image was restricted following the IFD discussions. It was deemed not appropriate to Criticism of the Qur'an and was removed by an admin following closure of the discussion. Had there not been a relevant article (Submission (film)), the image would have been deleted.

The proper process, therefore, to restore the image back into Criticism of the Qur'an, is to take it to WP:DRV. → AA (talkcontribs) — 14:28, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your reasoning is absurd. DRV is for deletion reviews, for stuff that has been deleted. For sure this image will stay in the article, sorry. I'm talking to the admin who made the decision to keep it out. In the end it will come back. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 14:49, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
And it would have been deleted had it not been appropriate for Submission (film). So, it does need to go to DRV in the case of restoring it back into Criticism of the Qur'an. → AA (talkcontribs) — 15:10, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well it has NOT been deleted so its NOT fit to go to DRV. Is that hard to understand? All we need is a Fair use rationale. I'm talking to the admin who made the decision. If you dont have anything to talk about whether it qualifies for fair use, I have no further comments for you. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 15:20, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
DRV is really for contesting the outcome of any deletion decision, but only when you think that the closing admin decided it wrong. You probably want to take this to Wikipedia:Fair use review instead. The principle that we're trying to uphold here is the minimal use of non-free content. I didn't feel it was necessary in Criticism of the Qur'an because you're only illustrating the one sentence "The film Submission, which rose to fame after the murder of Theo van Gogh, critiqued this and similar verses of the Qur'an by displaying them painted on the bodies of abused Muslim women." That might be enough to warrant the image's inclusion, but the film has its own article, so anyone can go there and see the image just fine. howcheng {chat} 16:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll take it to the Fair review page as you mentioned. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 16:56, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
