Cholesterol to pregnenolone edit

  • Cholesterol to Pregnenlolone

The enzyme is CYP11A1, I believe it should be changed Rrten00 (talk) 20:53, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

CYP11A1 and cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme are, as far as I know, two names for the same enzyme. Mikael Häggström (talk) 03:30, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

21 hydroxylase edit

According to our textbook(katzung, Basic & Clinical Pharmacology, 11th ed) page 682, the enzyme listed in this otherwise perfect diagram as 21-alpha hydroxylase (between progesterone and deoxycorticosterone) should be 21-beta.

In my text (Molina, Patricia E. Endocrine Physiology (2nd Edition) New York: McGraw-Hill, 2006) agrees with felix, though they also use the term 21-hydroxylase (neither alpha or beta) kyeprime (talk) 16:21, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for noticing this issue. I changed it to "21-hydroxylase now". Mikael Häggström (talk) 04:30, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Better image edit

The image:

Han, Thang S. (17 December 2013). "Treatment and health outcomes in adults with congenital adrenal hyperplasia". Nature Reviews Endocrinology. 10 (2): 115–124. doi:10.1038/nrendo.2013.239. PMID 24342885Figure 2: The adrenal steroidogenesis pathway. {{cite journal}}: Unknown parameter |coauthors= ignored (|author= suggested) (help)CS1 maint: postscript (link)

is more structured and modifications may be brought about based on the same. DiptanshuTalk 08:40, 8 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

The linked image is better in describing the steroidogenesis that happens in the kidneys, such as specifically describing what pathways occur in which "zona", but I wouldn't say it's better in describing steroidogenesis in general. If we were to add all the organ locations for each steroid I think the image would be overwhelming. Mikael Häggström (talk) 15:07, 8 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bi directional edit

If I am reading correctly 17β-HSD is bi-directional, shouldn't the arrows in the diagram point in both directions across it such as between Androstenedione and Testosterone? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.115.161.72 (talk) 09:18, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
