Libya's wrong. It's northeastern Africa, next to Egypt. You have Angola in red. lrn2map.

Hi, There are some mistakes here - but I don't know how to correct them. Iceland should be black, and technically French Guiana as well. Cote d'Ivoire should be blue. Benin should be gold. I think Puerto Rico should be black as well, with an asterisk perhaps. If you tell me how to correct this, I can make additional changes based on research. There are a lot of mistakes, espcially after I've verified the full 1980 boycott list. It needs urgent correction.--Aldux (talk) 16:58, 24 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Namibia was part of South Africa in 1980. --Tocino 23:49, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

China should be in green; [1] says they boycotted due to the IOC recognizing Taiwan. Taiwan should be in orange, same says they boycotted due to the IOC recognizing the PRC. --Random832 (contribs) 23:50, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, one more note to mention here. If the IOC does not recognize the 1900 and 1904 games in Paris and St. Louis (as actual Olympic games) then why is Russia recognized as a participant of the Olympic games since 1900? (See NBC.com's world map of the countries and their history in the modern Olympic games.) http://www.nbcolympics.com//countries/country=rus/index.html Canada is also recognized as competing since the 1900 Summer Olympic Games. http://www.nbcolympics.com/countries/country=can/index.html

I know this shouldn't be brought up here but note that Albania boycotted all 3 of those Olympic games so should be in all 3 colours rather than just blue. See Albania at the Olympics —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.103.107.125 (talk) 20:15, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Consistency of info related to Olympic boycotts edit

We should either remove this image immediately or re-create it. I've checked the notes on this talk page, and indeed there are lots of mistakes, for example a major one: the People's Republic of China only boycotted the 1976 games, NOT the 1980. It's the ROC (or Chinese Taipei) that boycotted both. EDIT: I've done further investigation, and it seems the PRC did boycott the 1980 games. Then in that case, there is problem with the consistency of articles related to Olympic boycotts, because not everywhere displays the same information...

Taiwan edit

Taiwan is definately wrong on this map. Taiwan did NOT boycott any Olympics. Taiwan was not permitted to participate in either 1976 or 1980 by the authorities of Canada and the USSR respectively. It was not voluntary on the part of Taiwan. ludahai 魯大海 (talk) 08:56, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK, English language sources differ from some of the Chinese ones I have long read. They indicate that there was a boycott. ludahai 魯大海 (talk) 09:03, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

China edit

The PRC didn't boycott the 1976 games; their Olympic Committee hadn't been recognized then. --202.28.181.200 (talk) 09:28, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
