Subject: Copyright on the new supplementary radiation warning symbol I'm adding the new supplementary radiation warning symbol to Wikipedia (The Free Encyclopedia, http://en.wikipedia.org) and must ask what the copyright status of the symbol is. As for now, it is added under "fair use" (se "Licensing" under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:New_radiation_symbol_ISO_21482.svg). It is converted to the svg format from your original PDF-format. The symbol is added under the following articles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioactive_decay http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazard_symbol But may be added to more (relevant) articles in the future. - Commons seem to have decided some time ago that this is ineligible for copyright as a simple geometric design so this is moot. In any case, I fail to see how a symbol intended to be used by anybody without explicit permission can amount to anything other than a free license. And in any any case, the symbol was not created by ISO, it was created by RadLab, so it never was their copyright in the first place. The weasely lawyer answer you got above is very careful not to claim copyright of the sign. SpinningSpark 15:33, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
