It maybe worth noting that this is "nations of the British Isles" rather than of the UK (a rather misfortunate misnaming). Moreover that part of Ireland identified as "Éire" would be better attributed as "Ireland/Éire" or even just "Ireland" as this is the English wikipedia and that part of Ireland is still in existance with no constitutional change in the status of the states name since 1937. Simply a law that describes the state as the Republic of Ireland.

So, there were no states in Ireland before the English conquest in 1541, apart from the Lordship of Ireland around The Pale. This is a typically Anglocentric view of our islands and the exact problem with the idea of "British Isles" and a common history at all. It's as if the histories of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and others are only related to their destinies as part of the greater English UK. (Stpaul (talk) 08:23, 13 July 2012 (UTC))
