Explaining revert edit

Hello, I reverted a recent version that claims to express in shades of red which parts of the South are most culturally "Southern". I replaced this version with the plain Wikimedia Commons version, since that is the one that was accessible to me.

The relevant Wikipedia policies here are verification, WP:VER, and no original research, WP:NOR. It would be fully legit to include in WP a map showing degrees of cultural Southernness. But this map would have to be taken from a scholarly source, like a published book or an article in a scholarly journal. What WP:NOR forbids is simply digging into your own memory and putting in what you believe to be true.

Editor Nuberger, who posted the now-deleted map, is invited to visit a library and see if an appropriate source can be found. Opus33 (talk) 02:52, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
