I've been in the MIT chapel many, many times (I've attended Sunday service there for 18 years), and I've never seen the altar so brightly lit or so brilliantly white as is depicted here. I suspect that it has been overexposed in this photo, and because of that the photo gives a somewhat misleading impression of the interior lighting in the chapel (which is ordinarily rather dim unless the electric lights are turned on).
