Map colours edit

The colours of three categories - "substantial" "selective" and "Not classified / no data" are indistinguishable. -- 88.253.199.2 (talk) 04:38, 6 December 2015.

Really? Do others see this same issue? What colors would work better?
There aren't very many countries displayed as "substantial" (mostly the island countries of SE Asia and the Pacific). There are even fewer countries that are displayed as "not classified / no data" (just Antarctica and several small island states).
Current legend colors
  Pervasive censorship and/or surveillance
  Substantial censorship and/or surveillance
  Selective censorship and/or surveillance
  Changing situation
Little or no censorship and/or surveillance
  Not classified / No data

Germany edit

Germany should be changed from green to yellow, because we have a new telecommunications data retention law in germany. (http://www.bgbl.de/xaver/bgbl/start.xav?startbk=Bundesanzeiger_BGBl&jumpTo=bgbl115s2218.pdf). The law includes the long term storage of GSM cell tower data for movement tracking. --DerElektriker (talk) 05:51, 11 January 2016‎

A better place to make such requests is Talk:Internet censorship and surveillance by country or Talk:Internet censorship in Germany. --Jeff Ogden (W163) (talk) 12:10, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

United States edit

The combination of censorship and surveillance is misleading in certain cases like the United States. While Internet surveillance is a problem in the US, the map suggests that US Internet censorship is on par with China, Russia, North Korea, etc. This is also likely to affect other countries; for instance, Internet censorship is problematic in South Korea, but not on the same level as North Korea or China. --Danerobe (talk) 06:49, 28 November 2016‎
