Iran used to have a gerndarmerie called the Imperial Iranian Gendarmerie which operated from 1911 to 1979. Its task was to police and monitor the rural areas of the country (roads, and all villages with population less than 5,000). As such, this map needs add Iran to the list of countries which had a gendarmerie once. Aryan (talk) 08:40, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chile should be included on the map as the article clearly states it has one gendarmerie.

The Philippines, as is stated in the article itself, had the now-defunct Philippine Constabulary (Hukbong Pamayapa ng Pilipinas) as its former gendarmerie. It has now been subsumed into and replaced by the Philippine National Police (PNP). Therefore, it is my suggestion that, along with the other countries listed here, that we be added to the map as nations which have or once had a gendarmerie, the Philippines indicated as red on the map.--Athenapyros (talk) 02:17, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hungary used to have gerdarmerie before 1945 and then later between 2004 and 2008. Now Hungary does not have it, so Hungary should be painted to red in this map. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.46.64.125 (talk) 15:57, 3 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
