02164 in the GIF image of the flag (which I think is a little lighter than than what it should be but close to what I found by trial-and-error) and #000066 in the menu bars (which is more like a navy blue and missing the green tint that I think should be found in the classical 青 color). I would like to propose that the blue be changed to #002850, or at least something darker than the #000099 that is currently used.

  • For the red field, the tone should be darker and suggestive of "crimson". It definitely should not be #ff0000. I don't think any green or blue needs to be added, only that the red should be darker. On the same www.mofa.gov.tw website, they use #ff0000 in the GIF image of the flag (which is too bright) and #990000 in one of the menu bars (which is probably too dark but doesn't appear so in the small menu bar). I think the crimson red should probably be between #a00000 and #c00000 and for now I would suggest the middle value of #b00000.

These two colors are what I see all of the time on ROC Government websites, but I do note about the other flags. I am going to ask friends in Taiwan to see what the colors are. The only thing that is certain is the construction. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 09:50, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't think the colors used on gov.tw websites are necessarily accurate or official unless color specifications are explicitly provided (which I haven't been able to find). For example:
  1. The colors #0000aa and #ff0000 on the flag on http://www.gio.gov.tw/taiwan-website/aboutroc/national_flag.htm are definitely wrong, the blue being even brighter than the #000099 currently used in the flag on Wikipedia.
  2. The GIF image on http://www.gio.gov.tw/taiwan-website/5-gp/yearbook/04government.html#02 is even worse, the blue being a purplish #421196 and the red about the same as #ff0101. Compare with the photograph showing the flag in a conference room further down this web page.
I used to live in Taiwan as well, and I am certain that whatever the blue color should be, it isn't in the upper #0000?? color space. Of course I am not saying that what I suggested earlier, #002850, is accurate. In fact #002850 looks wrong on this Talk page because of interference from the Talk page background color and probably because of the small size of the color sample; it looks better when put into the SVG file for the flag. As best as I can remember from my days as a student in Taiwan handling the flag almost on a daily basis, the shade is darker and there should be a hint of green in the color which we call . — Ydw (talk) 15:17, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Judging by the flag law, written in Traditional Chinese, the colors on the flag are red and dark blue (probably a royal blue). I been also looking this up myself, and I do notice the canton in most of the flag images are dark blue. I also need to look at the actual cloth flags I got as gifts from Taiwan in order to see what colors they are. I also have some photographs I am going to look at and try a few colors out. I would write to the TECRO office about 2 hours away from me, but their emails bounce. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 17:37, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
The colors of the flag are so weird now. Please change back to the previous one. You can refer to [1]!!!--128.208.37.33 (talk) 09:35, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would if I could, but the change is on Commons and they demanded for the colors to change to its current state. We are still trying to hack it out now. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:14, 7 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
The current dark blue(or near black color) is 100% wrong. For comparison, I put the 2 different colors of flag here.
The National Emblem of the Republic of China is used as the roundel for ROC military aircraft
Flag of the National Revolutionary Army.

Please someone change it back to its original color, it could be interpreted as vandalism.Arilang1234 (talk) 04:22, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is a discussion on the Commons, so no vandalism is involved. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 05:13, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can someone change it back to the Dec 2008 version because the current version did not go through the Talk Page. The official image from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can be found at http://www.mofa.gov.tw/webapp/public/Data/flag.gif The alliance (talk) 06:26, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

There is actually no official colors for the flag but also there are recommended colors by the ROC government we can refer to.

According to the government's website the colour code for the flag should be: #0029CC; #FFFFFF; and #F20000. If it is going to be changed it should apply to every flag or emblem with the ROC emblem in it.--Lmmnhn (talk) 20:07, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
