Why are the Southern Netherlands (Belgium) coloured in green? At the time of the VOC the Northern Netherlands were no longer connected to the Southern Netherlands, which were controlled from Spain.--Lamadude (talk) 13:06, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Dutch Caribbean islands edit
On the map there is a green dot right over the Virgin Islands. That is an error. The Dutch islands in that part of the world are Sint Maarten, Saba and Sint Eustatius, which are all three quite close together and all three are almost two hundred miles further south and east than the Virgin Islands. Sri Lanka edit
Sri Lanka didnt become a complete Dutch colony.Only the costal areas were adopted. The facts shown about Sri Lanka is wrong. Dutch did not at any point controlled the whole Island, In fact they lost some territories to Kingdom in Kandy. - This is correct, the Dutch were never able to colonize all of Sri Lanka, any incursions into the center resulted in defeat. The map should be amended. ScienceApe (talk) 08:05, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
