I am confused by this. I have an original bookplate of Joseph Priestley. It has a coat of arms pictured on it along with the name "Joseph Priestley" I believe that my bookplate belonged to Joseph Priestley (1733-1804). This is the Joseph Priestley who was the British dissenting Unitarian Minister who, among other things is credited with the isolation of the element Oxygen (detail added for disambiguation). You should note that there are some similarities, but, also, that there notable dissimilarities. I have no idea how to come to any conclusions about either of these depictions. Can anyone explain?
