i dont get it

What is it that you don't get? I can explain if you will be more specific. In short, 98% of all carbon in the earth's crust---in it's various forms that are mutualy covertible---is sedimented/dissolved in the oceans. About 2% is in the atmosphere in the form of CO2. The oceans' temperatre---dependent mostly on the sun's activity---determines the ocean's temps. and causes the water to release more/less CO2 into/out of the atmosphere.
