Identification
editNote the horizontal pupil, lack of distinct parotoid glands, lack of distinct dorsolateral folds, enlarged toe tips, and fairly average tympanic membrane. -Craig Pemberton 00:55, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Based strictly on location, it must belong to one of the following families:
Sooglossidae found in the Western Ghats- Bufonidae very cosmopolitan, found in all areas of India
- Microhylidae, specifically Melanobatrachinae and Microhylinae
- Micrixalidae
- Ranixalidae
- Petropedetidae, seems to live only South Africa, hard to tell from my source
- Dicroglossidae redirects to Ranidae?
- Rhacophoridae
- Nyctibatrachidae redirects to Ranidae?
- Ranidae
Hopefully that narrows it down a little. -Craig Pemberton 00:23, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Not Sooglossidae since there is only one species present in India (Nasikabatrachus) which looks different. -Craig Pemberton 00:28, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Of the toads, it must be one of these, although the toe pads indicate to my amateur eye that the individual is not a toad. -Craig Pemberton
- Adenomus
- Ansonia
- Bufo
- Duttaphrynus
- Pseudepidalea no page so who knows where these are from
- Ingerophrynus
Micrixalus saxicola looks superficially similar and is in the area. List_of_amphibians_of_India may help. -Craig Pemberton 01:23, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Indirana looks like a promising group. Take a look at [this].
