| Description | Counter-illumination active Camouflage prototype equipment in Yehudi lights project, fitted on Grumman TBM-3D Avenger naval torpedo bomber in 1944 or 1945. Forward-looking lights helped to balance out the dark outline of the plane when seen from its target, generally a surfaced submarine, against the sky. The range at which the plane could be detected by sight fell from about 12 miles to about 2 miles. |
