The XM800T was one of two candidates (the other the six-wheeled XM800W) that was to be selected by the Army as a dedicated vehicle for the Scout in the Armored Cavalry and maneuver battalion scout platoons for the 1980-1990 time frame. The program was initiated in 1966 and ended in 1976.
