IN June 1766, I fet out from Boflon,and proceeded by way of Albany andNiagara, to MichlUimackinac; a Fortiituated between the Lakes Huron andAlichigan, and dlftant from Boflon 1300miles. This being the uttermofl of ourfactories towards the north-weft, I con-fidered it as the mofl convenient placefrom whence I could begin my intendedprogrefs, and enter at once into the Re-gions I deiigned to explore.
