Een kindje met een levendig gezichtje is stijf in windsels gewikkeld. Deze baby is wellicht aan de goden gewijd om bescherming tegen kinderziekten te vragen. Het was gebruikelijk om kinderen tot ongeveer hun eerste jaar in doeken te wikkelen. Dit bakeren zou het kind rust geven en voorkomt ook het krom groeien van armen en benen. Terracotta modellen werden door mensen aan goden gewijd. Etrurian statuette of a tightly wrapped baby, possibly consecrated to the gods to avert children's diseases. 3rd - 2nd century BC. |
