Description
English: Snapshot from a video camera viewing through a vacuum window toroidally, i.e along the plasma of W7-AS. The "cold" edge of the plasma appears bright showing so-called island structures which touch the graphite tiles of the first wall on the left side of the window. Radiation from the hot plasma core (located at about the right side of the illuminated window, diametre about 30cm) is mainly in the soft X-ray range of the spectrum and thus invisible for the camera. The plasma core therefor appears as diffusely transparent.
Deutsch: Blick mit einer Videokamera durch ein Vakuumfenster in toroidaler Richtung d.h. entlang des Plasmas von W7-AS. Hell erscheint der "kalte" Rand des Plasmas, der in Bildmitte bauchige Inselstrukturen zeigt, die an den Graphitkacheln der Wand (linke Seite des erleuchteten Bildausschnitts) anliegen. Die Wärmestrahlung aus dem heißen Zentrum des Plasmaschlauchs (rechten Hälfte des erleuchteten Bildausschnitts, Durchmesser etwa 30cm) liegt in nahen Röntgenbereich und ist für die Kamera unsichtbar; das Plasma erscheint hier daher diffus durchsichtig.
