English: Violin, baroque, mid brown body, scroll head, four dark brown pegs fish tail shaped with small white ball inserts in centre of each peg, dark brown fingerboard, ivory piece rests on beginning of fingerboard (bolsa) wood bridge dark brown tailpiece, one fine tuner in place, ivory button attached. Chinrest attached, four strings, whole piece back, frontboard darker, double lined (purfling) around front and backboard. Possibly modelled after a German instrument early to mid 1800's unusual f holes 1 ‘baroque’ violin Arnold Dolmetsch workshop, Haslemere, Surrey, England, 1931 maple, spruce, snakewood, bone, bakelite, length of back 354 mm labelled ‘Arnold Dolmetsch - Haslemere - 1931 no 24’ 1998.60.23.1 Castle 30 This violin was made to baroque specifications by the Arnold Dolmetsch workshops.
