The library is one of the moft elegant apart-ments in Dublin, and contains a valuable andcurious collection of the beft writers on everyfubject : At one end of it is an anti-room, with afine copy of the Venus of Medicis, fculptured on thefpot by Mr. Wilton, and at the other, are two fmallrooms, one a cabinet of pictures and antiquities, theother of medals. It is Situated at the rere of thehoufe, and connected with it by a corridore, inwhich are fome handfome Statues, and Egyptiancuriolities. Upon 116 DESCRIPTION OF, &c. Upon the whole, this edifice is a well-defign-ed mean, between the vaft piles raifed for magni-ficence, and thofe fmaller ones wherein conveni-ence is alone confidered. As a piece of archi-tecture it is inferior to few, for the juftnefs ofits proportions and the convenient difpofition ofits apartments. With regard to furniture anddecorations, it is finifhed with tafte rather thanfplendor, and adorned with that elegance, whichrefults from Simplicity. T Y-

TYRONE-HOUSE, 1HIS edifice is remarkable for being one ofthe firft private buildings, of ftone, erected inDublin in modern times. It was built aboutthe year 1740, from the defign of Mr. Caffels,and was efteemed the moft elegant private ftruc-ture at that time in the city ; later improvementshave however confiderably leffened its importancein the clafs of our buildings. Nothing very extraordinary appears either inthe outfide, or in the interior parts of this build-ing : The front, reprefented in the annexed en-graving, is ornamented with a Doric frontifpieceand arched door, over which, in the attic ftory, isa Venetian window in the Ionic order; at eachfide of thofe and above it, is a regular range ofwindows, ornamented with architraves.
