1999 open letter from Dr. Leupold to the fission yeast research community

Article

Urs Leupold

Portion used

Only this photo is used from a letter that included several photos and Dr. Leupold's recollections on the origin of S. pombe research.

Low resolution?

Yes

Purpose of use

Almost no one in the current S. pombe research community has ever met Dr. Leupold and most members of the community joined after 1999. Therefore, this image serves as the only source of seeing whom we consider to be the father of S. pombe genetics. A Google image search for Urs Leupold does not pull of any picture of Dr. Leupold.

Replaceable?

There is no free equivalent of this image and Dr. Leupold is dead, so that new images of him are not possible.

Other information

The use of the image will not affect the value of the open letter that Dr. Leupold wrote in 1999.
