English: Strait of Gibraltar (June 20, 2004) – Amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) passes by the Rock of Gibraltar as the ship passes into the Mediterranean Sea. Kearsarge is surge deployed to transport elements of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the Central Command Area of Responsibility in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and the global war on terrorism.
