Summary

Description
English: USS Harcourt (IX-225) probably shown returning to San Francisco in April, 1946. Harcourt was commissioned, June 22, 1945, after, being bombed and then beached during the Mindoro landings, while operating as the SS John M. Clayton. Unlike several other torpedoed and bombed EC2-S-C1 hulled Liberty ships, the propulsion machinery of this ship remained operational, and her structural strength was largely restored. A slightly inferior print of this photograph is filed at the Naval History and Heritage Command as No. NH 84196.
