Description

This image shows Sunter Street running in a north-easterly direction and crossing Swale Street. David Bell's Manchester & Glasgow House is on the north-western corner of the intersection with Swale Street. Bell also owned the Boot Shop on the north-east corner. Bell was a local businessmen and Mayor of Strathalbyn from 1887 to 1889. The photograph was published in the 'Critic' in 1906. It was not taken in the 1920s as originally cliamed.
