Deutsch: Südansicht der Burgruine Gars in Thunau am Kamp, ein Ortsteil der niederösterreichischen Marktgemeinde Gars am Kamp.
Die Höhenburg Gars wurde im 11. Jahrhundert erbaut und diente den Babenbergern als Residenz bis Leopold III. um 1114 seine Residenz nach Klosterneuburg verlegte. Unter den Freiherren von Teufel wurde die mittelalterliche Burganlage im 16. Jahrhundert schlossartig ausgebaut. Ab dem 18. Jahrhundert begann der langsame Verfall der Burg, beschleunigt durch Blitzschlag und Brände. Aufgrund der Dachsteuer wurde die Burg um 1800 abgedeckt und verfiel endgültig. Die Burganlage ist seit 1996 im Besitz der Gemeinde Gars am Kamp und wird als Veranstaltungszentrum genutzt sowie im Sommer als Austragungsort für Opernaufführungen unter freiem Himmel: [1], [2].
