English: Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Veale Lane (1741/2 -1817) of Coffleet, Devon, by Sir Joshua Reynolds PRA (1723-1792), painted 1762-64. A half-length portrait of Thomas Lane facing to the left, wearing a mauve coat and a white stock. Provenance: By descent to Julia Lane, Mrs Henry Arthur Hoare of Wavendon; given to the National Trust along with Stourhead House, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
