Summary edit

Media data and Non-free use rationale
Description Picture of Stanley Brouwn's artworks this way brouwn (1961) and this way brouwn (1962) at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2023. Two cream-colored pieces of paper with simple black line drawings sit on a table in a gallery. The left piece of paper shows a line that starts at a small circle labeled "A.S." and navigates toward the left of the paper before turning at sharp angles to go to the right, ending at a circle labeled "C.S." The paper on the right shows a line traveling mostly straight from the left to the right, with several circles marked along the line's path. Each paper has the phrase "THIS WAY BROUWN" stamped in ink at the bottom right, above the artist's signature in pencil. The drawings are hand-drawn maps from passersby whom the artist had asked to give him directions to undisclosed locations.
