Summary

Description
English: A schematic of a thermosiphon solar water heating system. Thermosiphon systems do not have pumps, increasing durability and decreasing operation costs. The schematic was based on a schematic by EERE (http://www.eere.energy.gov/de/solar_hotwater.html ;schematic 3). Note that the convection effect between 6 and 10 was eliminated because of the fact that the water pressure was removed due to the fact that 6 is open at the top (connection to outside air via hole). This makes sure that the force of gravity takes effect at the water in the pipe after 10, driving down the hot water. The water is again lifted due to the convection effect as the second pipe extends down into the hot water unlike the first one. The valves themselves will need to be computer operated (connected to sensors as noted in schematic). 6 is ideally electrically heated.
