Description
English: A dramatic vigor pervades Géricualt's paintings and drawings, many of which present horses as the primary subject. The tragically short-lived artist was fascinated by the power and majesty of horses and was himself an avid rider. The brutalizing force that characterizes much of the artist's work is very much evident in this watercolor, in which a groom struggles to separate a pair of fighting horses.
