English: "Te Koraha, the residence of Mr A E G Rhodes, mayor, where the Duke and Duchess of York resided whilst in Christchurch."
  • Te Koraha - Hewitts Road, Merivale, Christchurch. The Tudor Revival style home of Arthur Edgar Gravenor Rhodes who served as a Member of Parliament and as Mayor of Christchurch.
  • The first parts of the house were built around an existing cottage in 1885 and there were subsequent additions and alterations in 1894, 1901-1902, 1905 and 1931, the work being designed by Armson, Collins and Harman.
  • This photograph was taken when the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York stayed there in 1901. The house was later sold to the Misses Gibson who founded Rangi Ruru Girls' School there.
