DescriptionTaiwan Independence banner from 1971.jpg
English: This banner was made for one of the first large Taiwan Independence demonstrations in the United States in April of 1971 during the height of white terror #Taiwan.
For proper context, this was a rally organized by WUFI (World United Formosans for Independence) after Nixon's first visit to China when the status of Taiwan was in the headlines. Over 1000 Taiwanese Americans amassed at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. There were 7 people from Cincinnati that held this banner where the first six people held T - A - I - W - A - N and the last one held this banner for Independence.
