Description
English: Innards of a bus duct, complete with double Mylar wrappings of each individual flatbar (bus bar). In the fire test leading to UL Through-Penetration Firestop Listing C-BJ-8028, the plastic wrappings, as well as the hollow plastic tube spacers that keep bus bar sandwiches apart, caught on fire. Since no firestop was permitted inside of the bus duct, this resulted in live fire going through the fire barrier on the inside of the bus duct. Internal firestops have to be included in the electrical testing to UL857 to be approved for use. But without the internal firestops, live fire and a steady stream of heat and smoke go through fire barriers and into adjacent fire compartments. Adhering to the electrical code, violates the building code.
