German WW2 Assault Gun Official designation:- Sd.Kfz 142/2 Sturmhaubitze 42 Ausf.G Manufacturer:- Alkett Built:- 1943 to 1945 Total production (including conversions):- 1,311 Main Armament:- 105mm leFH 18 Howitzer The StuH42 was effectively a StuG III Ausf F fitted with a 105mm howitzer in place of the usual 75mm cannon. It was used to provide infantry support alongside the StuG in the anti-tank role. This is an early production Ausf G which has additional 30mm armour plates bolted onto the front plate, later these were welded instead. It is on display in what is best known as Hall 5 of the Kubinka Tank Museum, although its official title is now Pavilion 5 in Area 2 of the Park Patriot museum. Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
