Description
English: Detail of a generalized stratigraphic column of the Southern North Sea Basin (including parts of NW Germany, the Netherlands and eastern England) showing the sequence that includes the Zechstein salt (Upper Permian). Meaning of patterns: chevron and “x” pattern on reddish and violet ground, respectively: evaporites; hatching on bluish ground: dolomitic limestone and dolomite; stippling on yellowish ground: sandstone; white areas within preserved rock column (i.e. not the hiatuses): not explained in the source but probably marine mudstones/shales.
