English: "Stack Plate Number 5", digital illustration of a Mississippian culture repoussé copper plate from the Spiro Mound site in Oklahoma. All rights held by the artist, Herb Roe© 2020. The"Stack Style" plates are an evolution from Classic and Late Braden style artworks and although many examples were found at Spiro, they were probably produced at the Etowah or related sites in Georgia. The name comes from the large"stack"of plates found in the Great Mortuary Mound at Spiro |
