English: The Sri Lankan leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) at Wilpattu National Park. The Sri Lankan leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya), also called Ceylon leopard, is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka that was first described in 1956 by the Sri Lankan zoologist Deraniyagala The Sri Lankan leopard has a tawny or rusty yellow coat with dark spots and close-set rosettes, which are smaller than in Indian leopards.
