Summary

Description Built in 1972-1974, this Modern structure was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and Trogdon-Smith-Grossman to serve as the United States Pavilion for Expo ’74, a world’s fair. The building features a roof made up of cables and fabric sails suspended from a steel tower and a large metal ring, concrete exterior walls, a grassy lawn with concrete walkways and a concrete stage, large bays with glass storefronts, and a roof with metal ribs. The building today serves as a amphitheater, home to outdoor concerts and performances.
