English: Portrait of Sir Michael Stanhope (pre-1508 – 1552) of Shelford, Nottinghamshire, beheaded 1552, (a son of Sir Edward Stanhope of Rampton, Nottinghamshire) convicted of conspiring to assassinate John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland. The arms are: Quarterly of 4:
  • 1: Quarterly ermine and gules (Stanhope);
  • 2: Vert, three greyhounds courant in pale or (Maulovel of Rampton, Notts, an heiress of Stanhope (blazon per: Thomas Robson, The British herald))
  • 3: Sable, a bend between six cross-crosslets argent (Longvillers of Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, a Maulovel heiress (Thoroton's History of Nottinghamshire: Volume 3, Republished With Large Additions By John Throsby, Originally published by J Throsby, Nottingham, 1796, pp.241-248[1]; Sometime visible in Tuxford Church per Thoroton, pp.219-226: "And here was also, Arme Johannis Lungvillers Patroni istius Ecclesiæ, viz: Sab. a Bend between six Crossecroslets Arg. which are upon the shield of an old effegies, on an ancient tomb, towards the North side of the Chancel."
  • 4: Argent, three saltires .... (?)
