Description
English: Label: "Shumard Oak. Quercus shumardii maamahkatiaahkarwi (Myaamia). There are more than 600 oak species, all adapted to different ecological conditions. The Shumard Oak -- named after Benjamin Franklin Shumard, a geologist and paleontologist who studied at Miami -- is said to have stronger wood than its more common close relative, the Red Oad (Quercus rubra)."
