This is a copyrighted image that has been released by a company or organization to promote their work or product in the media, such as advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit. Although the individual items are shown maybe in the public-domain due to age, a fair use issue arises because of the staging of the photo in which they appear.

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

1. It is used only to illustrate the three-dimensional work of art in question.
2. It is of lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).
3. The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
4. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because the subject of the photo is the point of the article.
5. There is no alternative, public domain or free-copyrighted replacement available.
6. The photo was issued for commercial promotional purposes by Sotheby's in New York.
7. The original work depicted is out of copyright.
