Summary

Description
English: Ash Fork was once the northern junction of the Peavine to Phoenix and the Santa Fe mainline. Ash Fork and Williams were bypassed when the Crookton Cutoff was built in 1960 (see: http://www.trainweb.org/bret…/bnsf/seligmansub/crookton.html ) The old mainline tracks between Ash Fork and the west end of the cutoff were removed and thus Ash Fork is really not a junction but a turning point, i.e., the branch to Phoenix heads west from Williams and turns south at Ash Fork.

Roger Puta took this photo in November 1985 during the Amtrak excursion (see my other posts).

Ash Fork had a spectacular Harvey House that served as the passenger depot. See: http://www.jcstudiosinc.com/OGaugeEscalanteHarveyHouse
