Royall Mansion, one of the most interesting buildings in New England. The original house of Winthrop, built about 1631, with its oak frame brought from England, is supposed to be incorporated into this house. The present form of the building dates from 1737, when Isaac Royall constructed one of the most luxurious homes of the times. In the yard is still standing the brick building used as slave quarters. The mansion became the headquarters of General Stark in 1775. It is now used as historical rooms and is crowded full of the most interesting relics.
